What Loan Ranger is
We put your application for finance to banks, and bring their answers back to you. We are not a bank. We do not lend money and we do not decide what you are offered. Every decision about whether to lend, how much and at what rate is the bank's own.
What it costs you
Nothing. There is no fee to use this, no charge for an application, and nothing taken off what you borrow. The bank that provides the finance pays us for bringing them a properly prepared application, and only if it goes through. If your finance does not go through, nobody pays us anything.
Because of that we have an interest in finance going through. The offers you are shown are ranked on what each costs you over its whole life, not on what any bank pays us, and where the cheapest month and the cheapest overall are different banks the screen says so. You choose; we cannot choose for you.
What you agree to when you open an account
These are the words you tick, and the words stored against your account:
I am asking Loan Ranger to find finance for me. I agree that they may collect the documents I send, read the information in them by machine, and use it to prepare an application on my behalf. I understand Loan Ranger is not a bank and does not lend money or decide what I am offered. I understand this costs me nothing, and that Loan Ranger is paid by the bank that provides the finance, only if it goes through.
What we ask of you
- That the information you give us is true as far as you know. A bank acts on it, and an application built on a figure that flatters you falls over later — after an enquiry is already on your credit record.
- That the documents you send are your own.
- That you keep your password to yourself. Your account holds your identity document and your bank statements; two-step sign in is there if you want it.
What we do not promise
- That any bank will say yes. We know what each tends to accept; we do not decide.
- That a figure we show you is an offer. Anything worked out before a bank answers is a guide, and says so where it appears.
- That an offer will still stand tomorrow. Most have a date on them, and after it the bank has to be asked again and may not say the same thing twice.
Stopping
You can withdraw an application before it is sent, and nothing goes. After it has gone we cannot unsend it, and we will say so rather than pretend otherwise. You can close your account at any time — what we must keep afterwards, and why, is set out in the privacy notice.
If something goes wrong
Tell us first: __TO BE COMPLETED__, or ask on the application itself. If we cannot put it right you may complain to the Information Regulator about how your information was handled, or to the National Credit Regulator about a credit matter.
